noun noun: portraiture the art of creating portraits.
Perhaps it’s to celebrate a milestone or an accomplishment. Or, perhaps, you had an idea to decorate the walls of your home with beautifully printed images of your loved ones.
Or, maybe it’s simply “just because…”
Whatever is your reason for booking a portrait session, we will develop a concept that fits you and your vision, and together, we will see that concept come to be in the images we create.
All our photo sessions start with a pre-session creative development consultation to discuss locations, outfits, and the vision of finished images. Sessions length vary, as some shoots may take longer than others due to the complexity of the desired vision of images, as well as the cooperation of the environment and locale. We will never rush through a session just to be done - we will do our best to make sure we get all the shots we need and that you will love all that we create.
After the shoot, you will be provided with an online proofing gallery featuring the best captures from the day, mostly lightly edited. I will suggest some of my favorite images and display them with different edits and finishes, but ultimately, it will be up to you to select the photographs that you personally love the most to be fully edited for printing.
Once your favorite images have been selected, they will be professionally retouched to reduce any distractions (blemishes, etc.) and to perfect the images. Once retouched, the images will then go through other aspects of post-production, including color grading, toning, and any other editing and creative processing of your images to achieve the desired vision and mood of the final images.
The final images can be revealed in person on a large screen in the comfort of your home or office, or can be delivered as shareable digital files via your online gallery for you to review at your own leisure. We can of course assist you with your image selection process and offer guidance as to how your final images should be printed and displayed, using the latest technology to virtually showcase your images on the walls of your home.
As you are investing in professional photography, it is only proper to print your images using a professional lab. Prints, prints packages, a la carte print items on various mediums (paper, metal, canvas, vinyl), along with home décor and gift products (acrylics, keychains, magnets, mugs, plaques, stand-ups, statuettes) will be available for purchase at your in-person ordering session and via your online gallery. All prints and most products are fulfilled by the nation’s premier professional photo labs, including Miller’s Professional Imaging, Bay Photo, and WHCC, and are delivered usually within 2-3 business days.
In this digital age when images are buried in newsfeeds before the day is out, we want your grandchildren to one day study a beautiful and breathtaking large format print on your wall when they are curious which side of the family they resemble most. There is an incredible difference between scrolling through photos on your phone and holding an heirloom quality photo album in your hands as you carefully flip through each page.
We want our portrait session to be more than just a photo shoot. We want it to be an experience you and your loved ones will cherish for many generations. We want to be able to say, “we went and made ourselves some memories!”
Various session types and their associated creative fees are outlined in the menu below. The different levels of sessions all include a print credit to be used toward the purchase of prints and products. The creative fee is like an investment, and the print credit is like the interest you’d earn in return for your investment – the higher your investment (the creative fee), the higher the percentage that goes toward your print credit. So, while a higher level session may have a higher creative fee, you will be entitled to a higher print credit.
The creative fee includes pre-session creative development consultation, photographer's time during session, preparation and post-production of images, online gallery with social media ready images, in-person ordering session, and a print credit to be used at your ordering session.
Prints and products are sold separately during your ordering session and/or via online gallery.
